Goodman 6×6 Magazine

The Goodman 6×6 Magazine (MAG66) is a 3D printed camera back designed exclusively for the Goodman Zone camera. Similar to other medium format backs, the magazine accepts 120 film, has a frame counter window to keep you on track, and the film is easily advanced by the two rotating knobs on top. The dark slide moves smoothly, but is fixed in place so it cannot be fully removed, ensuring it won’t be lost or misplaced. As well, swapping the ground glass is a breeze as the magazine opens and closes like a door on its side hinge, meaning you don’t have to fully remove the back in order to compose and focus your images.

The original design of the Goodman Zone camera was based on the Mamiya RB67 Pro S back. Being amongst the more affordable and easily accessible options at the time, we have since expanded on this idea by creating our own proprietary 3D printed 6×6 film magazine.  Using 120 film, the Goodman 6×6 Magazine works just like any other camera back, but has few unique features.

Nothing can be more frustrating than losing or misplacing an important camera piece, so we focused on building moving parts that are still fixed to the magazine, thereby allowing you to concentrate on your compositions, not where you put things down. The frame counter window is located on the back of the magazine and the door that hides the window is easy to rotate while being strongly held on by magnets. The dark slide is smooth to maneuver, but it cannot be completely removed, meaning it likewise won’t be mislaid. The magazine itself opens and closes like a door on a hinge while still attached to the body, allowing you to clip the Goodman ground glass in place; once done focusing, simply remove the ground glass and “close” the door, and you’re ready to keep shooting. And last, but not least, advancing the film is done by manually rotating the knobs on the top of the magazine, and by using the frame counter, you can always be sure of exactly what number you are on.

Just like the Goodman Zone camera, you can order the Goodman 6×6 Magazine (MAG66) either as a DIY kit, or pre-assembled by the team. The DIY kit comes fully equipped with all of the tools and materials you will need, and it is fun and easy to build following along with our online tutorial guides found on our YouTube channel. If you feel less comfortable with building by yourself, or you just don’t have the time, the magazine can be ordered pre-assembled for your convenience; all you need to do is load a roll of film, and you’re ready to go!

Please note that the Goodman 6×6 Magazine has been created exclusively for the Goodman Zone medium format camera; due to its unique way of attaching to the body, it is not compatible with other cameras.
