What kind of cameras do you have?

We have 3D printed medium format and pinhole cameras. All of them are film cameras, we do not have digital ones.

What does open source mean?

Open source means that all the files for our cameras are available for everyone for free. It was always like this and will stay like this forever. My favorite part in this is that we improve the cameras together with the power of the community.

We encourage everyone to print and build your own camera, experience this journey, and feel free to improve them, redesign them or develop new functions, accessories, etc. If you would like to share your modifications with us and our community we are happy to upload your files as well to our folders. In this case please send an e-mail to info@doragoodman.com.

In case you use our files we would kindly ask you to use them only for personal purpose and you may not use it and shall not be made commercially available by you or any other third party. In case you see someone selling our plans please notify us.

How can I download the camera files?

After registering as a member on our website you will have access to all the camera files on your member page. Registration is free.

How can I buy your cameras?

Please visit our store, you can find there all the products that are currently available to purchase.

I would like to order a custom camera from you. Is there an option for this?

Yes, there is, however we only have a small team so our resources are limited, but we will do our best to serve your needs.

You have the following options:

1. Custom camera with lens and back included: we make custom medium format cameras, based on our Goodman Zone body. We always have a small stock of lenses and backs that you can choose from, so we can figure out from these together the setup you need. Besides you can choose additional accessories, you can choose your color, or even a wood finish. Please contact us directly at info@goodmancamera.com. We will come back to you with our availability and a custom quotation.

2. Wood inlay cameras: In case you have a beautiful vintage camera that you would like us to re-skin with wood please send us an email to wood@goodmancamera.com. We will come back to you with our availability and a custom quotation.

How do I pay?

You can pay on our website with your bank card, we use the system of Barion. Your information is 100% safe with us.

Where do you ship?

We ship worldwide. The shipping prices are the same to every country.

What kind of shipping methods do you offer?

We ship with DHL and with Hungarian Post.

DHL: usually the package arrives in 5-6 business day and your package can be tracked with a tracking number. The shipping fee is 19 USD.
Hungarian Post: usually the package arrives in 30-40 business days and there is no tracking number provided. The shipping fee is 10 USD.

Every camera and higher value product is shipped only with DHL, but in case of the accessories you have the option to choose from the above mentioned methods.

Please note that these cameras are produced one by one, after placing your order we will ship your camera within an estimated 30 days.

There is a possibility for expedited delivery, to arrange this please contact us via e-mail at info@doragoodman.com.

In case of mass orders at the same time, a little delay in shipping can be expected. If this occurs we will notify you via email.

Tax charges

On orders coming from the countries of the EU according to general regulations we need to add 27% tax on top of the final price.

Please be aware that even outside the EU your country may charge you import tax and unfortunately we do not have control over that.

There may be other related charges, however typically we do not see or hear about any extra charges so please make sure to check with your local post office just to be safe.

Returns

Incase your order hasn’t turned out the way you have expected it, feel free to let us know. As long as you haven’t in any way damaged or marred any of the products, you can return your order for refund within 14 days after receiving it.

Do you have a 4x5 camera?

Not yet, we only have 6×7 camera. But we are already working on a new Axis, which will be 4×5.

Do you have a polaroid back?

We do not sell anything like this.

One of our community members already designed a version of the Goodman Zone that works with Instax back, the files are available open source, feel free to download, print and experiment with it.

What kind of lenses will work with the Zone?

You can attach Mamiya Press lenses.

50mm f/6.3 – 8 elements in 5 groups (Biogon type)
65mm f/6.3 – 4 elements in 4 groups (Topogon type)
75mm f/5.6 – 7 elements in 4 groups (Super-Angulon type)
90mm f/3.5 – 4 elements in 3 groups (Tessar type)
100mm f/3.5 – 4 elements in 3 groups (Tessar type)
100mm f/2.8 – 6 elements in 4 groups (Biotar type)
127mm f/4.7 – 4 elements in 3 groups (Tessar type)
150mm f/5.6 – 4 elements in 3 groups (Tessar type)
250mm f/8 (not rangefinder coupled)
250mm f/5 – 6 elements in 4 groups (Ernostar type)

What kind of lenses can I attach with the helical lens adapter?

It depends on the Helical adapter size you choose. We have 2 sizes available:

Base model: this will fit those lenses that has a minimum of 86mm and a maximum of 113 mm flange focal distance
Long model: this will fit those lenses that has a minimum of 96mm and a maximum of 128 mm flange focal distance

To choose the right model you have to know what is the focal length of your objective. Please make a careful reading on you particular lens and examine the sizes to determine which helical adapter fits your setup.

The front plate is available in 3 different diameter holes: 25mm, 28mm, 30mm. In case you need a unique front plate size, please send us an enquiry to info@doragoodman.com, and we can 3D print that for you for a specific lens.

We have a lens data list, where we marked which lens works with which Goodman Zone setup. You can fin the list here. Please note this is not a complete list, we are constantly updating it, so your selected lens might be not here, but that does not mean that it will not work with our setup. You need to check it’s flange focal distance.

What kind of back do you need for the Goodman Zone?

You need a Mamiya RB67 Pro S back, or a Goodman 3D printed magazine.

The Mamiya RB67 Pro SD back won’t fit.

Will the Mamiya RB 67 pro SD back fit?

No, only the Pro S version fits.

Will a digital back fit?

Probably no, but we never tried that.

If I get a DIY kit, what I need for the assembly?

Everything is included in the kit, even the screwdrivers, the sanding paper, etc. You just need time, a clean place, our tutorial videos and your patience.

Can I hurt myself during assembly?

As it is a DIY project it is always possible that you will hurt yourself with a screwdriver for example. We suggest you to wear glowes and transparent glasses. And be extra careful. Don’t rush.

How do you attach the lens to the camera body?

The Mamiya lenses fit exactly into the camera body, there is place for screws so you can fix it.
If you feel that it is too tight you need to sand very carefully the camera body. These cameras are printed one by one not on industrial machines, so there might be tiny little differences. We designed them to be more tight in order to avoid any light leak, so it can be always solved by sanding. The other way around would not work 🙂

Where do you recommend to get the lens and the back from?

Check them on eBay and Amazon, we usually do that, but we don’t have a certain place where we order from. Also it is worth to check the small local shops around your area. It requires a bit of research, but thats part of building your own camera. Use your creativity! 🙂

How do you focus with the Zone?

It has Zone focusing, on all the Mamiya press lenses the necessary distance is marked, so with the help of that you can get nice, sharp photos. If you are not familiar with the Zone focusing it might worth checking some articles and videos about it before getting the camera as it is a special technique.

What kind of solutions do you recommend for the viewfinder?

1. Every kit comes with a sports viewfinder, it is a small 3D printed part.

2. Every Mamiya press lens has its own original viewfinder that you can buy and attach to the camera.

3. We have our own viewfinding app, the GOODFINDER. Use it with your smartphone, its super useful! It is only available for IOS.

4. You can order our Goodman Ground Glass that you can attach to the back of the camera. Switching between the ground glass and the back is easy, fast and comfortable thanks to the small magnets the ground glass has.

This was made for the 35mm version, but you need to do the same steps in case of the 6×6 version.

What do I need the sanding paper for?

Its for removing strings of plastic that might be on the inside of the printed parts and to give a nice finish the outside of the camera. You should check the film route before assembly in the body of the camera and remove every small string carefully.
If you want a matt finish, then we recommend to sand every part individually before assembling it.
