Goodman Zone 65mm

$900.00

The Goodman Zone is a professional 3D printed medium format film camera. The 3D printed body comes with the Mamiya Press 65mm f6.3 lens and a 3D printed Goodman 6×6 Magazine. The package also includes various Zone accessories for the camera listed below.

The Mamiya Press 65mm f6.3 is the most compact lens in the Mamiya Press line. Thanks to it’s pancake style it’s lightweight but still very sharp and wide.

Lightweight, durable, and affordable, the Goodman Zone is an innovative and interesting alternative to traditional medium format cameras. Having full manual control and zone focus makes this camera especially useful for street or landscape photography; nonetheless, the Zone is a great camera for any photographer looking to get into medium format at a lower price point.

Out of stock

Photographing with a medium format camera is an exceptional experience; the format itself forces you to think about each and every shot, and the larger negative size gives way for fantastic details and smoother grain to shine through.
In today’s world it is becoming increasingly difficult to find medium format film cameras, whether new or used, in both good condition and at an affordable price, without even considering weight.  Our goal when we designed the Goodman Zone was to create a lightweight professional medium format camera offered at an entry-level price, ensuring that any photographer interested in trying out medium format photography for the first time could do so.

A truly modular system, the high-quality 3D printed Goodman Zone body is compatible with multiple lens and back options. At its base, the Zone was first built around the legendary Mamiya Press lens lineup, so this setup comes with a wide angle Mamiya Press 65mm f6.3 lens.

It also means that if you already have another Mamiya Press lens that will also fit the camera. Moreover we have developed a helical adapter that allows you to mount many leaf shutter lenses, depending on their flange focal distance, so if gives you the opportunity to use your camera with different lenses as well. If you are thinking on this option as well we recommend you to order the helical adapter too.

The camera was designed for photographers seeking the unique experience of full manual control and zone focus in their workflow. However for those not comfortable with the method of zone focusing, we offer a 3D printed focusing screen that attaches to the body by magnets, allowing you to effortlessly switch between the back and the focusing screen.

There is also an option to use your smartphone as a viewfinder and lightmeter; for this we highly recommend our Goodfinder app by mounting your smartphone to the top of the camera. At the moment the application is only available for iOS, but there are other suitable options for Android users. If you would like to try this option as well, please order separately our pro flash mount with smartphone holder.

Check out the Goodfinder app

If you would like to read more about the Goodman Zone we recommend you to check out our ‘Press’ and ‘Reviews’ sections, read customer testimonials, articles and watch some video reviews. Also we have a great blog post which helps you to get to know more about the Goodman Zone camera, so we highly recommend reading that as well.

What they’re saying about our cameras

Dora’s cameras are just so awesome. I ordered a Zone and also a Scura DIY kit from her, and the quality is amazing, honestly I was surprised as it is 3D printed. The kits include everything you need, her tutorial videos helped me a lot to assemble the cameras, and I love shooting with both of them, having beautiful results.
Definitely recommend to everyone who likes to experiment with new things and wants to try a new way of analog photography.

The experience of shooting and developing photographs from a camera that you have built yourself is incredibly satisfying! I bought a Goodman Zone and the Scura as well, I loved the build and assembly process! Once I started shooting with them, I quickly fell in love with the cameras - it's really rewarding to use and the results were more than I hoped for in terms of image quality.
I highly recommend Dora Goodman Cameras to anyone who wants an experience whereby they feel involved and immersed in every stage of the photographic process, from building and assembly through to producing gorgeous prints.

The Scura 120 has done a marvelous job of distinguishing itself from that crowd. I think it begins with the fact that you have to assemble it yourself. But there is more to the Scura than the DIY aspect of building it, the curved planes of the camera make it feel quite at home in the hands and the wood finish easily makes it one of the more beautiful cameras on the shelf when it gets a break from being out in the field with me.

The Goodman Zone is an amazing camera that lets you take control of all the aspects of the creative process of photography. Meticulously selecting the composition, deciding the focus, setting the exposure parameters, and finally shooting; the process with the Goodman Zone is as simple as with any other mechanical film camera. However, unlike other cameras, you are using something you assembled and personalized to your liking, not only aesthetically speaking, but also to the arrangement and types of accessories that you are more comfortable with. When i first started with the Goodman Zone, I came for its gorgeous design and its low price, but stayed for its personalization potential, its ease of use and Dora Goodman's nice and welcoming community.

I really enjoyed building the Scura and the shooting experience is so much fun and relaxing! I like the shutter, the wide curved film plane is really clever solution, and I like my results, the dreamy pinhole world. Overall very nice design, highly recommend to everyone who would like to experiment with pinhole photography.

The Goodman Zone is compact and light as well as a replacement for the massive Mamiya Press camera body and 65mm lens...That heavy camera from the ’60s was designed for professional photojournalists.

Tobias S.Germany

I took the Zone with me on a trip north to the baltic sea around Rostock/Germany to put it through its paces and shoot the first few rolls of film. Shooting with it was very smooth, and so was changing the rolls from the printed 6x6 magazine. Compared to my other medium format cameras, it is very light too! When I received the scans, I didn't expect much, to be perfectly honest. I thought most of them would be out of focus anyway and have terrible light leaks, but I was pleasantly surprised to get extremely sharp images back with no artifacts at all. Some credit goes to the nice sharp blue dot Mamiya Press lens, of course, but the Zone is so well designed that most props need to go to Dora Goodman for this. It's a sure companion for future trips.

I love my Goodman Zone, it is very light, aesthetically beautiful, very functional! I was surprised how durable it is, I hike and travel a lot and I always had a problem how to carry my heavy medium format cameras with which are also very expensive so I was a bit scared ot breaking them on my trips. The Zone solves my problems, it is super easy to carry and made of strong material. I am also happy with my image results, it perfectly does the job.

Bought the Dora Goodman 6x12 in May 2021, I was already interested by their concept of 3D printed modular cameras so when I saw the 6x12 on the website I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. I have to say that I was very pleased with my purchases, the camera is very easy to use and the fact that you can modulate it to accommodate another lens is really great, so far I tried the Schneider 47mm super angulon and a Nikon 90mm on it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a very light 6x12 camera, with the advantage to accommodate a fresnel glass to focus in case you want to be accurate.

I always liked the special aesthetic all of the Goodman cameras have. Their lines are distinctively unique and each camera is a small piece of art. I took much time with my Zone, never having done zone focusing or any medium format work before, the results came as pleasant surprises from a much more lightweight camera than the non-printed alternatives, with the best part being I can still change it and adapt it to my needs. After a year into the journey of this camera, I am inclined to say it may never end!

The Scura is fun to build and fun to use this camera. It is simple, sturdy, and easy to work with once you get the hang of rotating the winder the correct amount. Also very affordable and well made for the price. I like the artistic style - my images had a soft dreamy look. And also it is small and light, so you can carry it in your pocket and use light tripods and clamps with ease.

Marcel P.Germany

Using a Dora Goodman camera for me means; to tickling the maximum out of the simple. I like the feeling and the look so much, fusion old with new is just great. Everyone of these cameras will show its own look sooner or later. You are simply inclined to evolve your camera and adapt it to your needs, just as you push your output further. A camera that grows with you, not just by changing a lens.

Daniel P.Hungary

I've been using my Zone for about a year now and I'm still as excited about it as the day I got it. Besides the cool design, the main feature for me was its size and weight that allows me to carry it everywhere. I also enjoyed that the camera slows you down a bit, offering a different shooting process. A great experience overall.

Anna K.

“I am very happy with my 35mm Scura camera. First of all I love how tiny and light it is, it can fit even into the smallest bag, and it has literally no weight. The usage of the camera is easy, the shutter is very convenient. It took me a while to learn the secrets of pinhole photography, but if you follow the advices from Dora and her team you can get epic results, at least I love mines. Their customer service is pretty good, they’re always super nice and happy to help!”
